With cuts to our county-wide education budgets, Lassen County Office of Education and Lassen Land and Trails Trust put their heads together to bring 4th and 5th grade teachers a toolbox
for preparing students for the environmental science elements
of the STAR testing in 5th grade.
The Trust’s instructor visits classrooms throughout the county and brings lessons in hydrology, weather,
geo-caching, and wildlife biology
directly to students. Journals allow students to record their experience
and work through the language,
math and science fundamentals
that underlie each lesson.
